The Cold War of the early 1960s provided the backdrop for this drama about a military family headed by patriotic Air Force Colonel Raynor Sarnac. Sarnac commanded a group of jet pilots, and he seemed to become involved in many of the earthshaking events of the time, from the Cuban Missile Crisis to the incipient U.S. involvement in Vietnam. He also faced turmoil at home, from his worried wife, Vanessa, and his three growing children: Jackie, 15, who was dating a somewhat confused young man named Patrick; Wesley, the fun-loving 14-year odl; and RH, the 8 year old. They all felt the pressure of military life, with its danger and constant relocation. Carl was the colonel's walrus-mustached dad, who offered sage advice about duty to family and country.
